In The Schenk Law Firm, we believe true leadership means giving back. This summer, our very own Frederick Schenk, President of the 22nd District Agricultural Association, helped lead an inspiring new initiative: the San Diego County Fair Food Recovery Program.
After the fair wrapped up, nearly 3,000 pounds of surplus food—everything from fresh produce to bread and protein—was collected, sorted, and donated to the San Diego Food Bank. The result? Close to 2,800 meals delivered to families across the county.
This program doesn’t just reduce food waste; it turns tradition into community support. As Fred Schenk said, “The Fair brings joy to so many, but it’s what we do for others that truly matters. Making sure our leftovers help those in need is just one more way the Fair serves San Diego.”
The project supports California’s SB 1383 law, aiming to reduce food waste and fight hunger. It’s a true win-win for our community extending the Fair’s impact far beyond its gates.
