Benjamin Schenk Featured in the New York Post on America’s Teen Gambling Crisis

We’re proud that our partner, Benjamin Schenk, was featured in the New York Post article titled “NYC-area boys using bar mitzvah money to gamble as sports betting addiction on the rise with teens” (Oct. 16, 2025).

Teenagers around the country—often under 18—are accessing sports-betting platforms, or using offshore apps to wager. Many are slipping into addiction before they even finish high school.

For victims of under-age gambling, the legal theory involves: deliberate marketing to youth and weak age-verification systems by those gambling platforms who profit off their practices.

Benjamin Schenk puts it plainly:

“I’ve met kids who lost a decent amount of money, got embarrassed, tried to win it back, and then when they lost it again self-harmed.”
“They’ve been groomed through influencer gambling culture … look at gambling as a positive expression of masculinity.”
“The gulf between what is actually happening among high school students and what parents suspect couldn’t be wider. If you think your kid isn’t engaging in this behavior, really question yourself.”

At The Schenk Law Firm, we are actively representing clients in claims against platforms that facilitated under-age access.
